Launch of the Youth Engagement and Progression Framework Implementation Plan.
On the 1 October 2013 the Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology set out his approach to increasing youth engagement and progression.
The implementation plan gives local authorities a key strategic leadership role in their local area, working closely with Careers Wales, wider Youth Services, schools, providers and other partners to develop plans for implementation of the Youth Engagement and Progression Framework.
The framework is based around the six component elements, proven to be effective at increasing youth engagement and progression:
- Identifying young people most at risk of disengagement;
- Better brokerage and co-ordination of support;
- Stronger tracking and transitions of young people through the system;
- Ensuring provision meets the needs of young people;
- Strengthening employability skills and opportunities for employment; and
- Greater accountability for better outcomes for young people.
The plan brings together critical elements of NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) reduction together in one place with a clear two year timetable for implementation.
