SENIOR FELLOW THE WELSH INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE, UNIVERSITY OF GLAMORGAN

To be filled by secondment.  Indicative salary: £45,486 - £52,706

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the senior team at WIHSC, which we are looking to fill by secondment.

This will appeal to anyone interested in the development and application of policy in health and social care, who wants to apply critical thinking to some of the key challenges facing our caring services.

WIHSC is Wales’ leading academic centre in applied health and social care policy research, but we are not a conventional University Department.  We exist to bridge the divide between academia and health and social care, carrying out research and developmental work in a wide variety of contexts, for many different funders.  Our aim is to be a critical friend, asking the questions and seeking the evidence which result in better services.  We are self-funding, which helps keep us useful and relevant.

The post would suit a wide variety of candidates.  The successful person will probably:
·         have significant experience in aspects of health and social care policy and practice
·         be skilled in the critical analysis of policy and implementation issues
·         be an accomplished communicator
·         be keen to work hard as a key member of WIHSC’s senior team

We envisage that the secondment will be for a period of about two years, and will be full time (or close to full time).  It would equally suit people whose experience is in health, social care or the related third sector, and who perhaps want to try applying their skills and knowledge in a research and academic setting.

Within these parameters, we are very happy to be flexible about the arrangements made for the secondment in order to get the right person for the job.  If you are interested, please discuss your circumstances at an early stage with the Institute’s Director, Professor Marcus Longley.  Equally, if you’re not sure whether your experience or current salary fits the profile, please give Marcus a ring and talk it through.  He can be contacted by phone on 01443 483070 or 07887 705377, or by email on mlongley@glam.ac.uk  Further details about WIHSC are contained on our website http://wihsc.glam.ac.uk/

Please apply via the University website: www.glam.ac.uk/jobs  Closing date: 31st May 2012
