Quality Management
Systems (ISO 9001)
A large number of tenders and
pre-qualification questionnaires both within the public and private sectors ask
for a Quality Management Accreditation, such as the ISO 9001, as part of the
tendering qualification criteria. This workshop is designed to give businesses
an insight into what is involved to become accredited and what the benefits are
to businesses, what costs are involved, how long it will take to become
accredited, what implications will it have on the business. Businesses can make
an informed decision as to whether or not the Accreditation fits their business
development needs.

English Councils cut funding for Play
Children & Young People Now have investigated and reported on the massive reduction in funding for play in counties across England.
Spending has been reduced by 39% over the past 3 years and hit the levels of staffed, professional play workers employed.
With further budget cuts planned across England, it is predicted that there will be fewer play opportunites available for children to access.
It will particularly hit children in disadvantaged areas where parks and green areas are of poor and staffed provision have been invested in.
For the fuller article Click Here
Here is Powys we will be working with partners, funders and the community to help build sustainable Play opportunities for our communities. It does mean that we need some funding eg: for training and support community based volunteers but we need to be creative and value the benefits of play for everyone.

Good Practice in Handling Personal Data FREE Training by Information Commissioner's Office
Handle With Care – good practice workshops in handling personal data
The Information Commissioner’s Office in Wales is running a series of free half-day workshops in February and March across Wales. The workshops will provide practical advice on the basic do’s and don’ts of handling personal information for those on the front line of service delivery.
Aimed primarily at smaller organisations, the focus will be on ensuring adequate levels of security and privacy, and avoiding costly data protection breaches. The sessions will draw on examples of both good and bad data handling practice from audits we have recently undertaken. Sharing personal information with other organisations while still staying within the law will also be covered.
The workshops are likely to be of most benefit to those who work on the front line of services but whose main responsibility is not information governance or data protection compliance. Please feel free to pass on this invitation or the attached flyer to other relevant colleagues in your organisation.
To ensure the right level of audience interaction we are limiting numbers at each event to thirty. If requesting multiple places please bear in mind that we may not be able to accommodate such requests. We will confirm places at a later date.
The workshops will run in the mornings, timings to be confirmed, and the locations are as follows:-
* Wednesday 12 February – Holiday Inn, Llandarcy
* Tuesday 18 February – Radisson Blu, Cardiff
* Tuesday 11 March – Venue Cymru, Llandudno
* Wednesday 12 March – Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold
* Tuesday 25 March - Lolfa Cynin, St Clears
* Thursday 27 March – Llety Parc, Aberystwyth
