Good Practice in Handling Personal Data FREE Training by Information Commissioner's Office

Handle With Care – good practice workshops in handling personal data

The Information Commissioner’s Office in Wales is running a series of free half-day workshops in February and March across Wales. The workshops will provide practical advice on the basic do’s and don’ts of handling personal information for those on the front line of service delivery.

Aimed primarily at smaller organisations, the focus will be on ensuring adequate levels of security and privacy, and avoiding costly data protection breaches. The sessions will draw on examples of both good and bad data handling practice from audits we have recently undertaken. Sharing personal information with other organisations while still staying within the law will also be covered.

The workshops are likely to be of most benefit to those who work on the front line of services but whose main responsibility is not information governance or data protection compliance. Please feel free to pass on this invitation or the attached flyer to other relevant colleagues in your organisation.

To ensure the right level of audience interaction we are limiting numbers at each event to thirty. If requesting multiple places please bear in mind that we may not be able to accommodate such requests. We will confirm places at a later date.

The workshops will run in the mornings, timings to be confirmed, and the locations are as follows:-

*         Wednesday 12 February – Holiday Inn, Llandarcy

*         Tuesday 18 February – Radisson Blu, Cardiff

*         Tuesday 11 March – Venue Cymru, Llandudno

*         Wednesday 12 March – Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold

*         Tuesday 25 March - Lolfa Cynin, St Clears

*         Thursday 27 March – Llety Parc, Aberystwyth

If you would like to attend one of the above events please email us at wales@ico.org.uk wales@ico.org.uk> , with the following information:-

Tendering: Seminars for Trustees

A seminar for trustees
More and more third sector organisations are exploring tendering for public service contracts. But the world of procurement can at times seem daunting and complex. What role should trustees have in the process? And what are the Board’s responsibilities when their organisations tender for contracts?
This introductory seminar will provide guidance about the key considerations of tendering for trustees. It will discuss the changing funding landscape for the third sector in Wales; explore the key differences between grants and contracts; consider the implications of contractual relationships; and explain the duties of those who sit on governing bodies as their organisations bid for public service contracts.
