Understanding How to Safeguard the Welfare of Children and Young People - Accredited Level 3 Training through Agored Cymru

A two-day course
 
This course is aimed at people who want to gain accreditation, whilst learning about the current challenges in child protection and how practitioners can work with others to increase the protective factors for children that they work with.  The course is appropriate for people working in a range of organisations including youth settings, schools, children's daycare and residential settings, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector.  This two-day training will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss issues from practice, exploring the complex and sensitive nature of keeping children safe in a variety of settings.

Participants will explore the roles of relevant partners, the importance of accurate record keeping and appropriate information sharing, taking on board when consent is required. Attendees will have the opportunity to consider what helps to make an effective referral when an organisation has concerns about the welfare of a child and what might be expected of them during the statutory child protection process, including core group meetings and case conferences. The course will focus on a child-centred approach to safeguarding, and will offer participants the opportunity to analyse essential work place practices and policies in relation to keeping everyone safe. The issues of e-safety and bullying will also be addressed as these have a direct link to the safety and well-being of children and young people.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the main legislation, guidelines policies and procedures for safeguarding children and young people
  • Understand the importance of working in partnership with other organisations to safeguard children and young people
  • Understand the importance of ensuring children and young people's safety and protection in the work setting
  • Understand how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused or harmed
  • Understand how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been bullied
  • Understand how to work with children and young people to support their safety and well being
  • Understand the importance of e-safety for children and young people

In order to gain accreditation for the training, participants will have to evidence their knowledge of the learning outcomes by completing a written assignment based on the learning from the taught course.

Cwrs Deuddydd

Mae'r cwrs hwn wedi ei anelu at bobl sydd am ennill achrediad wrth ddysgu am yr heriau cyfredol ym maes amddiffyn plant, a dysgu sut y gall ymarferwyr weithio gydag eraill i gynyddu'r ffactorau amddiffynnol ar gyfer plant y maent yn gweithio gyda. Mae'r cwrs yn addas ar gyfer pobl sy'n gweithio mewn ystod o sefydliadau gan gynnwys lleoliadau ieuenctid, ysgolion, gofal dydd plant a lleoliadau preswyl, a gwasanaethau yn y sector gwirfoddol a phreifat sy'n rhoi cymorth i blant a theuluoedd. Bydd yr hyfforddiant deu-ddydd yn rhoi cyfle i gyfranogwyr i drafod materion o ymarfer ac archwilio natur gymhleth a sensitif cadw plant yn ddiogel mewn amrywiaeth o leoliadau.

Bydd cyfranogwyr yn ystyried rolau partneriaid perthnasol, pwysigrwydd cadw cofnodion cywir a dulliau priodol o rannu gwybodaeth gan ddod i ddeall o dan ba amgylchiadau y mae'n rhaid cael caniatâd. Caiff cyfranogwyr gyfle i ystyried beth sy'n gwneud atgyfeiriad effeithiol pan fo gan sefydliad bryderon ynghylch lles plentyn a'r hyn y gellid disgwyl ohonynt yn ystod y broses amddiffyn plant statudol, gan gynnwys cyfarfodydd grwp craidd a chynadleddau achos. Bydd y cwrs yn rhoi'r ffocws ar ddulliau diogelu sy'n canolbwyntio ar y plentyn a bydd yn rhoi'r cyfle i gyfranogwyr ddadansoddi arferion a pholisïau hanfodol a ddefnyddir yn y gwaith er mwyn sicrhau diogelwch pawb. Bydd y cwrs yn rhoi sylw i e-ddiogelwch a bwlio hefyd oherwydd bod gan y rhain gysylltiad uniongyrchol â diogelwch a lles plant a phobl ifanc.

  • Deall sut i ymateb i dystiolaeth neu bryderon bod plentyn neu berson ifanc yn cael ei fwlio
  • Deall sut i weithio gyda phlant a phobl ifanc i sicrhau eu diogelwch a'u lles 
  • Deall pwysigrwydd e-ddiogelwch ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc
