Dear Colleagues,
Further to the communique circulated on 31 April, we have held additional conversations with Powys County Council managers regarding the future of youth services, particularly in the light of very difficult budgetary pressures.
Powys County Council is undergoing an options appraisal. As part of this appraisal, it has asked PAVO to assess the capability of the voluntary sector in relation to open access youth provision. Over the next few months we would value and appreciate your cooperation in gathering information about what is currently provided and what would be needed if organisations were to take on additional and wider responsibilities. This will inform the process and establish, among other matters, the kind of resourcing and support youth organisations will need to be part of a future, collaborative provision.
It is expected that greater clarity will be brought to the situation by the end of the year. I would envisage that PAVO will be in a position to facilitate direct dialogue between PCC personnel and organisation early 2016. By this time, you will have helped to shape proposals via the information you provide as part of the mapping exercise.
PAVO will ensure that you are fully informed of any and all developments. Please consult regularly our Children & Families Network Blog http:// pavochildrenfamiliesnetwork. blogspot.co.uk/
In the meantime, if you have any queries or would like to discuss any issues, please contact PAVO's Children & Families Facilitator, Yvonne Owen Newns [yvonne.owennewns@pavo.org.uk 01597 822191]
Kind Regards
Carl
