Welsh Government are building a resource base that is available, including from 3rd Sector organisations, to support schools.
Can you help us to develop a resource for schools?
Pupils from low income families face barriers that prevent them from achieving as well as their more affluent peers. Evidence shows that engaging parents and communities in pupils’ education has positive impacts and is particularly beneficial for poorer pupils.
Schools report that this is an area where they often face significant challenges and they would welcome examples of tried and tested programmes to use in their schools. The third sector has a valuable role in this respect.
We are looking for examples of effective programmes and interventions which have been shown to have real benefits, particularly in the field of family and / or community engagement and in helping support vulnerable pupils to overcome barriers to achievement. The aim is to provide a resource base that schools may readily access. We are interested in programmes and interventions that have been independently evaluated, or those that show promise and may benefit from an independent evaluation.
Schools may be able to use their Pupil Deprivation Grant for programmes that target pupils eligible for free school meals or who are looked after children.
