April is world autism month aiming to raise awareness about individuals with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. The eighth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2015. Please share this email with fellow colleagues, service users, family and friends to raise awareness of autism in Powys.
What can you do to support WAAD?
- Organise an event on WAAD, April 2, 2015. The event can be anything of significance, for instance, visit a school and read to children with autism, local awareness raising activities, organise informational events for parents of children with autism or simply voice your support of WAAD publicly.
- Visit the www.worldautismawarenessday.
org or National Autistic Society http://www.autism.org.uk/Get- involved/Raise-money/World- Autism-Awareness-Week.aspx websites to find further inspiration on how to support WAAD.
- Make an announcement in your area reinforcing April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day or the month of April as Autism Awareness Month.
- Share the attached brochure with service users, colleagues, professionals, friends and family. Display in your office, on your organisational notice board and in your local community to support WAAD.
- Visit the Powys ASD Website via www.powys.gov.uk/ASD for local and national ASD information and support.
