Suicide - Would You Know What To Do?

Do you have the skills to deal with suicide?

Through raising awareness and challenging stigma we make it easier for people to talk openly about suicide, and find ways to keep them safe and access help.

By providing community-wide training we break down barriers and increase the numbers of people with the skills and confidence to help someone at risk through our courses.

Do you have the confidence to intervene with a person at risk of suicide?

How many of us would walk past someone in difficulty on the roadside, saying that's not our concern?  Yet when is comes to someone thinking of suicide, people can be reluctant to get involved.  Is it because of a fear of making things worse, not knowing what to do, thinking that it is someone else's responsibility, or even the possible belief that it would be futile to intervene because the person has made up their mind to die?

Research shows that a population-based approach to suicide prevention, with trained "gatekeepers" in front-line services and the community, increases the potential for ealy, effective intervention.
