Fy enw yw Keith Towler ac rwyf wedi fy mhenodi i arwain Bwrdd Gwaith Ieuenctid Dros Dro newydd Cymru. Cefais fy mhenodi gan Eluned Morgan, Gweinidog y Gymraeg a Dysgu Gydol Oes. Rwy’n falch iawn o gael y cynnig i wneud y gwaith hwn ac wedi credu erioed fod pobl ifanc yn haeddu cael y gwasanaethau gorau posibl.
Rôl y Bwrdd yw canolbwyntio ar ymarfer gwaith ieuenctid a rhoi cyngor i Llywodraeth Cymru ar ddatblygiad y strategaeth gwaith ieuenctid newydd, er mwyn sicrhau bod pobl ifanc yng Nghymru yn gallu cael mynediad at y gwasanaethau gwaith ieuenctid y mae ganddynt hawl iddynt.
Pan ro’n i’n Gomisiynydd Plant Cymru dysgais fwyaf drwy siarad â phlant a phobl ifanc am beth fyddai’n gweithio orau iddyn nhw. Nawr fy mod wedi cael cais i edrych ar waith ieuenctid rwyf am i chi fod yn rhan o hyn o’r cychwyn felly byddaf yn lansio arolwg ieuenctid Cymru gyfan ar gyflwr gwaith ieuenctid yng Nghymru. Bydd hyn yn gyfle cynnar i chi ddisgrifio beth sy’n bwysig i chi a beth rydych am ei gael gan waith ieuenctid yng Nghymru
Nod yr arolwg yw cael pobl ifanc yng Nghymru i siarad am waith ieuenctid a bydd y syniadau a’r meddyliau y byddwch chi’n eu darparu yn helpu’r Bwrdd wrth iddo ddechrau ar ei waith. Bydd yr arolwg yn gyfle pwysig i bobl ifanc lywio’r ffordd y mae gwaith ieuenctid yn cael ei ddarparu yn y dyfodol.
Ynghyd â’r neges hon rwyf hefyd wedi ysgrifennu at y rhai sy’n gweithio yn y sector gwaith ieuenctid. Os ydych am ddarllen y neges honno gofynnwch am gopi gan eich gweithiwr ieuenctid.
Byddaf yn cadw mewn cysylltiad â phobl ifanc wrth i ni weithio ar hyn i gyd. Byddaf yn datblygu cynllun cyfathrebu gan ddefnyddio’r cyfryngau cymdeithasol a fformatau eraill er mwyn i chi gael clywed am y cynnydd a wnawn, a chofiwch gysylltu â mi os oes gennych chi unrhyw gwestiynau.

STATEMENT TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN WALES
Keith Towler, Chair, Interim Youth Work Board for Wales
My name is Keith Towler and I have been appointed to lead a new Interim Youth Work Board for Wales. Eluned Morgan, Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, has appointed me. I’m really pleased to be asked to do this work and have always believed that young people deserve the best youth service possible.
The role of the Board is to focus on youth work and to advise Welsh Government on the development of a new youth work strategy that will ensure young people in Wales are able to access the youth work services they are entitled to.
When I was the Children’s Commissioner for Wales I learned most from talking and meeting with children and young people about what would work best for them. Now that I have been asked to look at youth work I want you to be a part of this from the start so I shall be launching a Wales wide youth survey on the state of youth work in Wales. This will give you an early opportunity to describe what you value and what you want from youth work in Wales.
The survey is intended to get young people in Wales talking about youth work and the ideas and thoughts that you provide will help the Board as it begins its work. The survey will provide an important opportunity for young people to shape the way youth work is provided in the future. I really hope that you will want to be involved and I will be in touch again soon with more details.
Alongside this message I have also written to those who work in the youth work sector. If you would like to read it, please ask your youth worker for a a copy.
I will keep in touch with young people as we work on all this. I shall be developing a communications plan using social media and other formats so that you can hear about the progress we are making, and contact me if you would like to ask anything.
The opportunity is now here to define a future for youth work so that you and all young people in Wales, wherever you live and in whatever circumstances, can fulfil your potential supported by a vibrant youth work sector.
I look forward to working with you. If you want to get in touch please contact me via youthworkboard@gov.wales
