Play Montgomeryshire is starting up its fine weather play program this Easter with free of charge play sessions throughout the Shire.
It all starts on the Monday, 21st March, at 2pm when the Oldford (in Welshpool) Play sessions start up down by Skansis Pitch. Amanda and her team will open up the large storage container filled with loads of play resources ready for an influx of children to come and have fun, this will continue every Monday and Thursday in the school holidays from 2 to 4pm and every Monday and Thursday after school from 4 to 6pm, even on Bank Holidays. This is until the end of October.
The next day, Tuesday 22nd March, Bryn y Gog (Machynlleth) opens its play box doors at 11am to offer a wide range of play activities to local children. This project will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 3 in the holidays and from 4 to 6pm after school, also until the end of October. This project starts with an open day for registration on Saturday 19th March from 1 to 3pm. It is registering with the CSSIW so children 5 to 8 years old can stay without their own carers, and this day is all about the new system. Refreshments will be available.
Also on the Tuesday, and the following Tuesday, the regular Stay and Play session in Newtown Library will run from 1.30 to 3.30pm. Newtown Library will be reading stories to the children from 1.30pm, and Play Montgomeryshire will be running a Stay and Play session for children of all ages from 2 to 3.30pm. The Stay and Play craft session will involve craft activities, plus toys to play with and join in with their friends. As usual members (membership is free of charge) may buy craft materials to do their own crafts over the Holidays. All children are welcome to join us at these Play Sessions in Newtown Library - there will be something for all ages. On Saturday 26th March the regular end of the month craft session will also be happening in Newtown Library from 10.30 to 12 noon.
The Wednesday (23rd and 30th March) brings 2 outdoor Play Sessions involving Den Building, Dressing up, Messy Play, Crafts, and fun and games.
The morning sessions, from 10 to 12, will be on Maesyrhandir (either in front of the school or outside the Youth Club) in Newtown; and the afternoon session from 2 to 4 pm at the Caersws Playground in Main Street.
The regular Stay and Play sessions in Machynlleth Community Church will carry on both Wednesdays in the Easter holidays, from 10 to 12 noon, and every week thereafter.
Play Montgomeryshire is a registered charity, and it is thanks to generous funders they are able to carry out these activities free of charge
