Supporting Youth Services in Powys: Help Us Help You

Help Us Help You ….

Further to our announcement in August regarding the future of youth services in light of very difficult budgetary pressures, PAVO is about to embark on an assessment of the capability of the voluntary youth sector in relation to open access youth provision.

We are drawing up an in-depth survey to map out the provision currently on offer from the voluntary youth sector.  The survey will generally cover the:
·           extent,
·           quality,
·           sustainability
·           and safety of provision.
The information from this survey will be crucial to inform planning of resources and support for groups.  The voluntary sector may well have to meet an increased level of demand, in terms of the numbers of young people and meeting their specific, sometimes challenging, diverse needs.

In addition to the survey, we will be arranging opportunities to bring together and meet with groups in the very near future to hear more about the opportunities your group provides to young people.
This will be an exciting opportunity for voluntary youth groups across Powys to plan and shape with us the future face of youth provision.

So that we gather the right information it would be helpful if your organisation is a PAVO member and/or registered on Powys InfoEngine.
If you are affiliated to a national organisation please make sure your representatives are able to provide the information to feed through to us.  We look forward to working with all our partners to create the best possible opportunities for young people in Powys to achieve their potential.

Look out for the survey coming your way during October, share and spread the word and help us help you.

What Support is Available for Parents?

Please see the message from the Powys Strategic Parenting Forum.  To help plan services and to make sure that Parents/Carers can access the right support we need to know what is currently happening.  There is a short survey below to help find out.

Please do complete and let us know.  The information will be used to make sure that ALL parents/carers can access some level of support.  Organisations and agencies will be able to help signpost parents/carers to the right support available in their area.

Re: Parenting Support in Powys

We know that parents play a crucial role in supporting their children’s social and emotional development and in helping them to do well in school. We also know that access to parenting support benefits a whole range of parents. In Powys we are proud of the range of parenting support offered to our parents from a variety of agencies.

So that we can map out the support that is available to parents and be able to signpost parents to relevant support we would like to know whether you are currently offering any parenting support and, if so, the type of support you are offering. Knowing where the strengths and expertise are across the county will also help to avoid duplication of resources.

If you would like more details regarding the free training and supervision that can be offered locally to support you in your parenting work please get in touch.

We would be very grateful if you could complete the following questions, which should only take a couple of minutes.

You can complete the questions online by using the link below:

Parenting Support Programmes - what's available in Powys?

Do you provide support for parents?  This could include very formal programs or something more informal. We want to find out what is available out there so that:
parents can be signposted and access support
services can be coordinated, reducing any duplication and plugging any gaps.

The survey will be sent round very soon, so watch out and let us know.
