Contribute towards Contact A Family Cymru's response to Welsh Government Additional Learning Needs in Wales

Hello All

The Welsh Government is proposing to change the education system for children with additional learning needs in Wales. The full proposals are on the Welsh Government’s website here: http://wales.gov.uk/consultations/education/proposals-for-additional-learning-needs-white-paper/?lang=en

Contact a Family Cymru is broadly supportive of many of the proposals; however, we are concerned that the new system may not fully meet the needs of families of children with disabilities and additional needs. We will be sending in our response to these proposals and we want it to be based on your views. Please help us to do that by completing the following short survey that seeks your views on four key issues.https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZWQC5F2

Please answer all the questions and complete the survey by 8pm on Wednesday 16th July.

Additionally, we urge you to give your own detailed comments on the Welsh Government proposals by visiting the website noted above.

PAVO Response: Restructuring of provision for pupils with Additional Learning Needs in the 3 -11 age group

Please find below the link to our response to the Additional Learning Needs Consultation.

In summary, our response points out:

  • there isn't enough data and information to make any comments on what future ALN provision should be.
  • there isn't enough information about the proposed new ALN provision.
  • there are comments that many children and families have greatly benefited from ALN Units, however, there also comments to say that this is not always the case.
  • the ALN provision affects all children in school and their views are also valuable.
  • an offer to co-produce and work with the Council and families to evolve an appropriate service which meets the needs of ALL children with ALN.

PAVO's Response to Powys County Council's Additional Learning Needs Consultation

PAVO submitted a response, on behalf of 3rd sector voluntary and community groups, to Powys County Council's Consultation on Additional Learning Needs Provision for 3-11 year olds.  The response is a collection of voices from organisations over a period of time which we hope will support the Council to develop a responsive and appropriate services for children with additional learning needs.

We are advocating a co-production approach and the need for much more information and data to be made available, so that informed decisions can be made.
