Homelessness Law in Wales – An essential introduction

Since April 2015, Wales has had its own distinct way of dealing with homelessness. The Housing (Wales) Act 2014 created new duties for local authorities to help prevent homelessness for anyone who asks for help. It is therefore more essential than ever that anyone working with people in housing difficultly understands the basic procedures and duties owed to people who are facing homelessness in Wales.
Course includes:
  • Overview of the legislation and its vision
  • Detailed exploration of key terms including:
    • Homelessness and threatened with homelessness
    • Eligibility
    • Priority Need
    • Local Connection
  • Review to the application process for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • Examination of Local Authority duties and how they are met
  • Discussion of review procedures and options
Suitable for:
Essential core training for anyone supporting people facing homelessness or the threat of homelessness including support workers and generalist advice workers. The course is also essential knowledge for housing solutions triage/first point of contact staff or for new Housing Options caseworkers
Please note that delegates can strengthen their knowledge and understanding of Homelessness law and duties by attending more advanced training following this training

Ers mis Ebrill 2015 mae Cymru wedi cael ei ffordd arbennig o ymdrin â digartrefedd. Mae Deddf Tai (Cymru) 2014 wedi creu dyletswyddau newydd i awdurdodau lleol helpu i atal digartrefedd yn achos unrhyw un sy’n gofyn am gymorth. Felly, mae’n fwy hanfodol fyth i unrhyw un sy’n gweithio gyda phobl sy’n cael anhawster o ran tai ddeall y gweithdrefnau a dyletswyddau sylfaenol sy’n ddyledus i bobl sy’n wynebu digartrefedd yng Nghymru.

Bydd y cwrs yn cynnwys:
  • Trosolwg o’r ddeddfwriaeth a’i gweledigaeth
  • Archwiliad manwl o’r termau allweddol gan gynnwys
    • Digartrefedd ac o dan Fygythiad o ddigartrefedd
    • Cymhwystra
    • Angen Blaenoriaethol
    • Cysylltiad Lleol
  • Adolygiad o’r broses o wneud cais ar gyfer pobl sy’n ddigartref neu o dan fygythiad o ddigartrefedd
  • Archwiliad o ddyletswyddau awdurdodau lleol a sut y maent yn cael eu cyflawni
  • Trafodaeth o’r weithdrefn adolygu ac opsiynau 

Yn addas ar gyfer:
Hyfforddiant craidd hanfodol ar gyfer unrhyw un sy’n cynorthwyo pobl sy’n wynebu digartrefedd neu o dan fygythiad o ddigartrefedd gan gynnwys gweithwyr cymorth a gweithwyr cynghori cyffredinol. Yn ogystal, mae’r cwrs yn darparu gwybodaeth hanfodol ar gyfer staff brysbennu datrysiadau tai/staff cyswllt cyntaf.
