Aim:
To prepare to be an effective appropriate adult in a police station thereby promoting the interests of justice, whilst safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the legal basis behind the appropriate adult scheme
- Explore the nature of Power inherent in police investigations
- Understand the importance of the Codes of Practice (Police and Criminal Evidence Act)
- Good Practice before the appropriate adult goes to the police station
- Good Practice upon arrival at the police station
- Good Practice during the police interview
- Good Practice after the police interview
