Inclusive Training via SNAP Cymru















SNAP Cymru and Groundworks have been funded by Welsh Government to deliver play training to encourage inclusive practice towards children with disabilities.

We have two dates: 5th May and 6th May and looking to put on a day in the North and South of the county.

Could you circulate to your staff and volunteers and encourage take up of this FREE opportunity.

Introduction

Session 1 – Respect Disability Awareness
1 day session, accredited by Agored Cymru, level 2, 1 credit
½ day session, non-accredited
At the end of training participants will:
      Know more about the ways in which we think about disability and impairment and how this can colour our decision making
      Recognise the effects of disability discrimination
      Recognise how language, behaviour and actions can achieve inclusion
      Understand the concept of inclusion and how to develop strategies to encourage it
      Consider different scenarios of children with disabilities and how to support their inclusion

Session 2 - Healthy Risk Taking

½ day session

At the end of training participants will:

      Know more about the Acts underpinning risk
      Know more about the actuality as opposed to the perception of risk
      Consider how to balance risk
      Consider different scenarios of children with disabilities about to join their group
      Be more confident that they can assess risk and promote healthy risk taking




Session 3 - All Children Can Play
½ day interactive session
Can be delivered in settings
At the end of training participants will:
      Know more about the work that has already been undertaken to include disabled children in play
      Know more about the ways in which we think about disability and impairment and how this can colour our decision making
      Consider how to adapt position and gaming rules to assist participation
      Consider different scenarios of children with disabilities about to join their group
      Be more confident that they can provide a range of activities and adapt these for different children with different needs

Session 4 – Train the Trainer
2 day session, accredited by Agored Cymru, level 2, 3 credits
At the end of training participants will:
      Plan a training workshop
      Understand and practice training techniques
      Run a training workshop
      Recognise the need to evaluate workshops and produce appropriate paperwork
