Inclusive Play
Tier 2 or PTHB Level 2 One Plan Outcome: People in Powys are healthy and independent.
Aim: The aim of this course is to enable you to ensure your play provision is inclusive for all children. It will be underpinned with play theory, inclusive philosophy, the social model of disability and rights legislation. Furthermore, it will provide you with a broad understanding of the practical applications to your practice in your work with children so that you can ensure your play provision meets inclusive standards for the benefit of ALL children in your work.
By the end of the course you will:
• Understand the theoretical and legislative background to play, including an understanding of the definition of play, the play work principles, the UNCRC, Play strategies.
• Understand the theoretical and legislative background to inclusion, including the social and medical model of disability and the Disability Equality Act
• Undertaken an analysis of the barriers to inclusion and how these can be overcome • Have developed a range of strategies and techniques for incorporating inclusive play in your provision.
• Have undertaken an analysis of appropriate intervention in play settings to promote inclusive play.
