NHS Patient's Watchdog Online Survey: Urgent appointments with the GP

“NHS Patients’ Watchdog launch On-line Survey
Urgent  appointments with the GP

Patients’ across Wales are being given the opportunity to rate accessing their GP in a National Survey launched today by the Community Health Council.

The Survey asks how easy it was to obtain an urgent appointment to booking yourself in for a routine appointment with your GP. It also asks Patients’ to indicate how long they waited to be seen once they had an appointment.

Interim CHC Board Director Cathy O’Sullivan said “The launch of this survey is very timely following the recent announcement by Professor Mark Drakeford Minister for Health & Social Services of the reduction of the administrative burden for GPs in their new contract for Wales”. It is essential that we ask patients for their experiences of getting urgent appointments with their GP to monitor the impact on patients following the changes in the GP contract”.

Community Health Councils (CHCs) across Wales have concerns about GP appointment systems and timely access for patients given that approximately 90% of contacts with the NHS happen in Primary Care.

The survey will run for two months and we are urging anyone who has to see their GP to complete the on line survey.

Corff gwarchod ‘Cleifion GIG’ yn lansio Arolwg Ar-lein ar apwyntiadau brys gyda’r Meddyg Teulu

Mae cleifion ar draws Cymru yn cael y cyfle i raddio mynediad i’w Meddyg Teulu mewn Arolwg Cenedlaethol sy’n cael ei lansio heddiw gan y Cyngor Iechyd Cymuned.

Mae’r Arolwg yn holi pa mor hawdd oedd hi i gael apwyntiad brys ac i gael apwyntiad arferol gyda’ch Meddyg Teulu. Mae hefyd yn gofyn i gleifion nodi pa mor hir y bu’n rhaid iddyn nhw aros i gael eu gweld unwaith yr oedden nhw wedi cael apwyntiad.

Dywedodd Cyfarwyddwraig Dros Dro Bwrdd CIC, Cathy O’Sullivan “Mae lansiad yr Arolwg yma yn amserol iawn yn dilyn cyhoeddiad diweddar yr Athro Mark Drakeford, y Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, ynghylch gostyngiad yn y baich gweinyddol i Feddygon Teulu yn eu contract newydd yng Nghymru. Mae’n hanfodol ein bod yn gofyn i gleifion am eu profiadau o gael apwyntiadau brys gyda’u Meddyg Teulu i fonitro’r effaith ar gleifion yn dilyn y newidiadau i gontract Meddygon Teulu.”

Mae gan Gynghorau Iechyd Cymuned (CICau) ar draws Cymru bryderon am systemau apwyntiadau Meddygon Teulu a mynediad amserol i gleifion o dderbyn bod tua 90% o gysylltiadau gyda’r GIG yn digwydd mewn Gofal Sylfaenol.

Fe fydd yr Arolwg yn para dau fis ac rydym yn annog unrhyw un sy’n gorfod gweld eu Meddyg Teulu i lenwi’r arolwg ar-lein.

Mae’r Arolwg ar gael yn:  www.communityhealthcouncils.org.uk
