Hi, and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

The Leading Wales Awards are the annual awards for leadership in Wales. They are now accepting nominations across 9 categories – including Leadership in Voluntary and Not for Profit Sector. If you have a friend or colleague who is doing outstanding work as a third sector leader, why not nominate them in this category before Friday 7 June.

Our Health and Social Care conference with Welsh Government is happening tomorrow at Cardiff City Stadium. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity for the third sector and public sector to come together and explore how we can realise a transformation in health and social care. Hi, and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

We all know there’s a huge squeeze on public services in Wales, and it’s becoming more and more necessary for volunteers to plug the gaps – within the NHS or for community organisations that contribute in ways like hospital transport, befriending, and bereavement support. Helpforce has been developing an evidence base for effective volunteer interventions in healthcare and is now making the move into Wales. In this blog, our new Helpforce manager Fiona Liddell gives some background on their plan to transform volunteering in and around the NHS.

European funding is integral to the third sector in Wales, and WCVA. To celebrate Europe Day last week, our Deputy CEO Phil Fiander published a blog reflecting on the sector’s contribution to delivering European Funds in Wales, as well as a map of our own journey.

Thanks for reading, we’ll catch you again next week.
