As you are probably aware, Powys County Council has taken the decision to address statutory and non-statutory advocacy requirements in a single contract. DEWIS Centre for Independent Living (CIL) will provide an Independent Professional Advocacy service from 1st April 2019 across all adult citizen groups except those in receipt of statutory mental health advocacy.
BCA Independent Advocacy Services will continue to provide a specialist independent advocacy for adults with learning disabilities in mid & south Powys. There will be no change of service for our current clients and we will continue to accept referrals for new clients from social services, care and support providers, learning disability nurses, other health professionals, family members and self-referrals.
At BCA we strive to deliver the best outcome for our clients and we will work with other services and professionals including the new advocacy service to enable adults with a learning disability “have a voice” in decisions about their lives.
Our Powys People First self-advocacy project which facilitates self-advocacy groups across Powys, the Theatr Wildcats inclusive drama group and the Healthy Lives Project which aims to improve the health and well-being of adults with a learning disability will also continue.
If you have any questions or queries, please contact me on 01874 625603.
Please could you forward this email to all of your professional contacts and reassure any mutual clients that BCA is continuing to provide advocacy for adults with a learning disability.
BCA looks forward to working with you in the future.
Kind regards and best wishes
