‘Get on Board Campaign Launches at the Young Wales Conference On 12th March, Whizz-Kidz attended the Young Wales Conference and held a stand at the marketplace telling conference attendees about what we do, and most importantly launches the Wales element of our national ‘Get on Board’ campaign.
We had our own Wales pledge board asking partners to identify issues that young disabled face with public transport and where possible to pledge how they support the young people they work with.
This will be the focus for our Cardiff and Swansea Ambassador Clubs this year and we will share our findings with Welsh Government and other partners later in 2016. |

Whizz Kidz are planning lots of activities across Wales this year, for young people aged 14 -25 years, and we would love to get more young people involved. To become involved, the young people need to live, or attend school in Wales, be aged 14-25, and be either a full or part – time wheelchair user.
Here is what we are doing in your area:
Ambassador Clubs Clubs are running throughout the years in Bangor, Wrexham, Llandudno, Swansea, Cardiff & Powys. Ambassador clubs are where young people come to meet other, have fun and learn new skills. In the past year we have done a lot of cooking (and eating!) as well as having spoken word workshops, samba drumming, attended Festival No 6, cinema trips, Sailing workshops, and BBQs.
Coffi Clwb In North Wales we hold a bi monthly Coffi Clwbs, these are evening sessions that are for young people aged 18-25 , to meet together in the evening for a chat and chill. This is to try to encourage young people to meet independently of the project and get used to being out in the evening with friends.
Wheelchair Skills Training This will be taking place across Wales throughout the year. If you have young people who would be interested in coming along, then let us know or alternatively if you would like to host a scheme in your organisation, all the we ask is that you bring together at least 5 young people who match the age range, and then we will supply the training for free.
To book onto any of the above events or to get more information, please contact: South Wales – Arron Ring; a.ring@whizz-kidz.org.uk / 07760 368 424 North Wales – Zarah Ross; z.ross@whizz-kidz.org.uk / 07775 323733 |
