Caudwell Children works with families who have children with disabilities and chronic illnesses across the UK. We provide funding towards vital equipment, treatment and therapies that can change children’s lives. We run many projects across the UK, including our Child Ambassador Network (CAN). This is made up of children who have received support from us and are able to provide us with ongoing feedback on how we can improve our services.

We have recently secured funding to develop the network and as part of the plan we hope to recruit buddies/mentors who will assist our Child Ambassadors in their role. The buddy should be ages 18-25, have a disability or be NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). Preferably they should have experience of being an ambassador themselves although this is not essential. We would like them to be confident and prepare to speak up about issues that concern them as young people. We will provide training to help them do this. In return, along with training, we can offer them involvement in campaigns that will shape the services they depend on and provide an environment where they can meet people and make new friends. We also will offer, free of charge, a treat in return for their hard work. We will have 2 meetings between October and February and three regional events. The first event is on 28th October 2014 where, after a consultation, we will be rock climbing at Boulders in Cardiff!

Young people interested in this opportunity should contact Anna on 07824431868 or anna.morris@caudwellchildren.com. The young people can come from any part of Wales as we are running the project in South East, South West, Mid and North Wales.

Many thanks for your help,

Anna Morris
