Fund for ‘separated families’ invites the third sector to bid
Third sector groups have been invited to attend a bidders’ event to stake a claim for part of a £14 million funding project supporting separated families.
The Department for Work and Pensions is to launch the Innovation Fund: Support for Separated Families, which contains up to £14 million to finance interventions to help parents work together in the interest of their children.
The key objectives of the Fund are to:
- Increase the number of children benefiting from child maintenance arrangements by reducing conflict and improving collaboration between separating or separated parents
- Test a wide range of interventions to understand what is effective in encouraging collaboration and reduce conflict among separating and separated parents
Bids for funding of up to £1.5 million are invited, and the DWP is particularly encouraging bids from the third sector as either a main bidder or a sub-contractor. A bidder event to explain the fund’s requirements more fully and to answer any questions from attendees will take place in Cardiff on 25 July.
To attend this event, email your name and contact information to separated.familiesprocurement@ dwp.gsi.gov.uk, stating that you are interested in attending the Cardiff event.

MA Research Project: Counsellors working with Young People & Self Harm
My name is Helen McGlashan and I’m a counsellor working for the Young People’s Counselling Service in Flintshire.
I’m studying for the MA in Counselling Studies at Chester University and am just about to begin my research study. The title of my dissertation is ‘An Exploration of the Challenges and Dilemmas Faced by Counsellors Working with Young People who Self-Harm’.
I am looking for participants (qualified Counsellors working with young people who self-harm), who would be interested in taking part in my research study, and wonder if you would be able to distribute my flyer amongst the staff in your agency.
If you would like to help Helen please contact PAVO for further details.

CYPP Youth Service Review & Strategy
Youth Service Review
and Strategy
The
Children & Young People’s Partnership are undertaking a review of the Youth
Service and will be drawing up a Youth Service Strategy. This is good timing as the Principle Youth Officers
Group and CWVYS, with funding from Welsh Government, has published a nationally
agreed “Youth Work Principles and Purpose”.
Welsh
Ministers wish to see youth service activity focused on those young people with
additional need and targeting towards: those who are not in education,
employment or training (NEETS), those living in poverty and those who may need
more intensive support due to homelessness, substance misuse or involved with
the criminal justice system.
The
review will look at what is already in place including clubs and accreditation
that is delivered eg: Duke of Edinburgh Awards etc. Young people will be consulted on to find out
what their needs are. The review is also
keen to find out why young people do not use youth services.
The
draft strategy will be ready by the end of October with consultation over
November – December. A finalised
Strategy will be ready by the end of January ready for implementation by April
2013.
We
will be asking you for the views of young people and what are your needs to
help your organisation deliver services which meet those needs.
If
you wish to discuss further at the this stage please contact PAVO via the help
desk:
email: info@pavo.org.uk tel: 0845 009 3288
