Children in Wales
Early Years & Child Accident
Prevention Seminar
Wednesday, 3 February 2016, 9:30am - 2pm
Park Inn by Radisson, Cardiff City Centre

Following Children in Wales' successful Parenting conference in October 2015, and in response to feedback from participants, we are organising a series of follow-on seminars for 2016.

This first seminar will focus on:
  • The unintentional harm and injuries to children and young people in Wales - what's new, is there any current research being undertaken (Dr Sarah Jones and/or Huw Brunt, Consultants in Environmental Health Protection, Public Health Wales).
  • The Child Death Review (CDR) Programme and how practice can influence/affect the work of the CDR Board.  What do people on the ground do with the information that's gathered? (Beverley Heatman, Programme Manager, Public Health Wales).
This practical seminar aims to inform those working with children in the early years, with a particular focus on the prevention of injuries, and help participants to start their journey to consider implementation issues.  We are delighted that Karen McFarlane, an expert in child accident prevention and former employee of Children in Wales, will chair the seminar and facilitate discussion during the day.

Plant yng Nghymru
Seminar Blynyddoedd Cynnar ac
Atal Damweiniau Plant

    Dydd Mercher, 3 Chwefror 2016, 9:30yb - 2yp
Park Inn gan Radisson, Canol Dinas Caerdydd
Yn dilyn cynhadledd Rianta lwyddiannus Plant yng Nghymru ym mis Hydref 2015, ac mewn ymateb i adborth gan y cyfranogwyr, rydyn ni'n trefnu cyfres o seminarau dilynol ar gyfer 2016.
Bydd y seminar gyntaf hon yn canolbwyntio ar y canlynol:
  • Anafiadau a niwed anfwriadol i blant a phobl ifanc yng Nghymru - beth sy'n newydd, ac a oes unrhyw ymchwil gyfredol ar waith (Dr Sarah Jones a/neu Huw Brunt, Ymgynghorwyr Diogelu Iechyd Amgylcheddol, Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru).
  • Rhaglen Adolygu Marwolaethau Plant (CDR) a sut gall ymarfer ddylanwadu/effeithio ar waith y Bwrdd CDR. Beth mae pobl ar lawr gwlad yn ei wneud â'r wybodaeth sy'n cael ei chasglu? (Beverley Heatman, Rheolwr y Rhaglen, Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru).
Nod y seminar ymarferol yma yw hysbysu'r rhai sy'n gweithio gyda phlant yn y blynyddoedd cynnar, gyda ffocws arbennig ar atal anafiadau, a helpu cyfranogwyr i gychwyn ar eu taith at ystyried materion gweithredu. Rydym wrth ein bodd mai Karen McFarlane, arbenigwr ar atal damweiniau plant, a fu gynt yn gweithio i Plant yng Nghymru, fydd yn cadeirio'r seminar ac yn hwyluso'r drafodaeth yn ystod y diwrnod.
