Surviving winter grant - community and voluntary groups

Surviving winter fund:

Voluntary and community groups and eligible to apply so although it might not be directly relevant to some of us I thought we might know some voluntary/community groups who may be interested, details below, I cant see a deadline:

Groups are invited to apply for grants of up to £1,000 to support the cost of:
·         items essential to alleviating the suffering of food and fuel poverty (e.g. food parcels, blankets, hot water bottles, thermals)
·         activities to alleviate the suffering of food and fuel poverty (e.g. soup kitchens, community luncheon club

Just wanted to raise awareness of it as I’ve only just come across it. Please feel free to forward this email.

Nest can also offer support with some bids (ie raising awareness of Nest through any project work to ensure people not only get food parcels, blankets, hot water bottles etc but also Nest information which could support individuals over the long term, helping with sustainability of the grant…)

Training Plan for January 2015

Dear All

Please see attached the Training Plan for January 2015 Training week. The course information is also attached. If any of this information is changed by the tutor before the event I will ensure that you are informed. I have asked Rob Lynch for more information on the Substance Misuse course and I will send that out as soon as I receive it.

The mandatory food hygiene course is a 6 hour course,  the course is from 3p.m. – 9p.m. –  food will not be provided, so can I suggest you bring food with you as the Leisure Centre has limited refreshments available. There is a drinks machine so please bring change with you. There are 20 places available on this course.

Attached is also a list of names of who needs to do the food hygiene course. If you have new members of staff and I don’t know about them please let me know and I can add them to my list. If you have any queries over this list contact me asap. Can you ask the part-time staff to contact me if they can or cannot attend?

Important:  No form, no place booked on the course and can I ask that people do not just turn up as this is creates difficulties for the trainer and the venue.

Please ensure you complete an application form for the courses you would like to attend.

Please return completed application forms to me via e-mail helen.quarrell@powys.gov.uk or by post Helen Quarrell, Youth Service, Neaudd Brycheiniog, Cambrian Way, Brecon, Powys, LD3 7HR by Monday 22nd December 2015.

Can I also remind you that lunch/tea/coffee/biscuits will not be provided during this week. There is a drinks machine at the leisure centre but I would suggest you bring water/drinks and lunch with you.

Can I ask that all staff conduct themselves in a professional manner throughout this training week and if there are any problems during a training session, initially talk to the tutor but if this is not possible/appropriate then remove themselves from the training and ring me 07884244952. ( If I am on the training course please talk to me during a break and hopefully we can find a solution to a problem, if I don’t know about it I can’t help!!!)

Please can I ask you to ensure your part-time staff have access to this information as I will not be sending this out by post to them.

Many thanks
Helen

POWYS DANCE TRUSTEE RECRUITMENT - EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

 Dawns Powys Dance

Powys Dance is one of the leading dance development agencies in Wales and has a first class reputation for its wide-ranging work in the County. The service is revenue funded by the Arts Council of Wales. After 35 years of successful activity as a Council-operated service, Powys Dance will soon launch as an independent organisation with its own board of management. This exciting development will open up a variety of new funding opportunities and allow Powys Dance to operate more flexibly and engage the community more actively in its work.

PAVO and Powys County Council are now at an extremely important stage in the process of working to assist the emerging Charity to recruit a Board of Trustees to shape the new organisation and take it forward. The Board of Trustees will be responsible for driving the vision for the provision of dance services within Powys over the coming years.

If you have the drive, commitment and ambition to get involved in leading an exciting new dance venture, and can offer up to 4 days per year of your time, then please do take the time to read our Dawns Powys Dance Trustee Recruitment Pack ENG in Word or Dawns Powys Dance Trustee Recruitment Pack ENG pdf. Equalities Monitoring Form ENG  Alternatively. contact Claire Sterry PAVO on 01597 822191 or claire.sterry@pavo.org.uk

Welsh Neglect Project

Datblygu cymorth cynnar ar gyfer esgeuluso plant yn y gwasanaethau addysg yng Nghymru

Developing early support for child neglect in the education services in Wales

I am contacting you regarding research that the NSPCC are carrying out as part of the Welsh Child Neglect Project, funded by the Welsh Government. For this research we want to find ways in which children who show signs of low level neglect can be supported in schools and early years settings. I have an online survey for professionals to complete, which I want to distribute across the whole of Wales to get a good national picture of current good practice and additional support that children can be provided with.

Please help support this research by raising awareness of the survey to any professionals you know who work with children in schools and early years settings?

I would greatly appreciate any support that you could offer with this research.

Kind regards,

Annemarie Newbury
