Disabled Children Conference 2015:

Promoting and  Empowering the Rights of Disabled Children and Young People
Wednesday, 11th November 2015

Park Inn, Cardiff Centre
Children in Wales' Disabled Children Conference will focus on promoting and empowering disabled children and young people within a rights based framework. Participants will have an update on existing and proposed policy and legislation and how it will affect disabled children, young people and their families. Innovative ways of empowering disabled children and young people will also be explored. Workshops will further support discussion on a range of topics relating to policy and practice.

Who should attend?
Professionals working with disabled children, young people and their families and those with a policy lead or interest in disabled children

Confirmed Speakers
Professor Luke Clements from Cardiff University who will speak about the Social Services and Well-being Act and its implication for disabled children

Dawn Pickering Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University and physiotherapist who will speak about Participatory Methods and Digital Story Work within health

Young people from Together4Rights, Young Wales, who will speak about participation and the importance of getting their voices heard by professionals

Presentation on NSPCC research report "We have the right to be safe' protecting disabled children from abuse"

Presentation on the draft Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill

We hope the event will increase delegates' understanding and give them the opportunity to consider their own policy and practice alongside sharing experiences and best practice.

Bydd y cyfranogwyr yn cael yr wybodaeth ddiweddaraf am bolisi a deddfwriaeth cyfredol ac arfaethedig a sut bydd hynny'n effeithio ar blant a phobl ifanc anabl a'u teuluoedd.
