Consultation : Strategic Equality Plan Promoting fairness for all

Dyfed Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Ambulance Service NHS Trust, together with the local authorities, national parks and health boards covering Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys, would like your views in reviewing their strategic equality plans.

These plans are important documents, setting out how the public organisations will make sure their actions are fair to all.  Being treated fairly and with respect is relevant to us all, and to our families and friends.

Strategic Equality Plans – a joint consultation with partner bodies. See box below.

This consultation runs from 17th August to 16th October
Audience: The consultation is open to all and we want to hear from as many people as possible.  The consultation is about promoting fairness for all.
Area: Mid and West Wales.
Why are we consulting?
The following organisations are reviewing their strategic equality plans (SEPs) and have come together to jointly consult:
Dyfed Powys Police; Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service; Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust; Hywel Dda University Health Board; Powys Teaching Health Board; the local authorities of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys; Pembrokeshire and Brecon Beacons national parks; Coleg Sir Gar and other further education colleges.
The SEPs are important policies that help organisations achieve fair outcomes.  In particular, the plans are concerned with:
•           Eliminating discrimination
•           Advancing equality of opportunity
•           Promoting good relations between people
SEPs are a requirement of the Equality Act 2010.  The Act gives specific protection to people on the basis of their:
•           Race
•           Sex
•           Age
•           Religion and belief
•           Sexual orientation
•           Pregnancy or maternity
•           Disability
•           Gender reassignment
•           Partnership status
The survey is designed so that people can give their views on the significance of the above in relation to important services or issues.
