It involves completing a 20 minute questionnaire to be completed by the carer and by siblings over the age of 8 years. They also want to look at the experiences of children between the ages of 8 -16 years of age.

Family & Behaviour Support Services to be delivered by Action for Children
Shelley Davies, Senior Partnership Manager: Children & Young People's Partnership can announce the new Family and Behaviour Support Service has been awarded to Action for Children. This service will officially commence on the 1st April 2013 and referrals to it will be made via a Common Assessment Form to the central Joint Assessment Family Framework team ( in County Hall, Llandrindod Wells).
This new service contract brings together three existing but separate contracts;
- Schools Behaviour Support Service (currently delivered by Resolve Cymru)
- Parenting (currently delivered by Barnardos)
- Early Intervention Service (currently delivered by Action for children)
Action for Children, Barnardos and Resolve Cymru have delivered these services over several years here in Powys and they have been key partners in setting the strong foundations for this new service to develop and move forward over the next three years.
As you would expect there will be some TUPE transfer arrangements for some staff within the existing services to transfer into Action for Children thus ensuring that we do not lose some of the crucial expertise in the workforce which we have developed over the past 10 years or so. Whilst this work is being finalised Action for Children, Barnardos and Resolve Cymru are working together to ensure continuity of service and a smooth transition. It is important that the workforce is clear that there will be no break in service and that families can be referred in to the new service as from the 1st April. Separate arrangements are also in place to satisfactorily conclude any existing cases within the current services.
More detailed information and an official launch will be communicated in due course.

Benefits Changes for disabled people
As you may be aware the government wants to make some big changes to our benefit system in the UK. One of the biggest to be changed is to move from the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to the new Personal Independence Payments (PIP) for disabled people aged 16-64.
Attached is the latest bulletin from DWP which includes information on how PIP’s are going to be implemented and some tools to help parents and support organisations to see how the benefit changes will affect disabled people and their families.
You can also find more information on how the benefit changes might affect you on our website ‘making sense of the benefit changes guide’
You can also contact our helpline on 0808 808 355 and we can help with any information need or queries you might have about how the benefit changes might affect you and your family.
Best wishes
