CO-LOCATION AND SPATIAL STRATEGY WORKSHOP
11th  December 2012

9.30am to 1pm (lunch provided)

Llandrindod Golf Club (LD1 5NY)

Under the auspices of the Powys One Plan we know that exploiting opportunities for
co-location across Powys is another opportunity to achieve rationalisation.
There are already some great examples…

Making further progress is reliant on:-

• Having a collective understanding of what we mean by Community
Focused Services

• A coherent spatial strategy, including knowledge of current pipeline
projects

• An understanding of the different statutory requirements to move and or
build new service facilities

• Co-ordination of capital spending opportunities

• A sound governance structure that supports a collaborative approach
between stakeholders and partners including users

This preliminary workshop is designed to explore the above and establish a
direction of travel.

To confirm your attendance please contact:-

Supporting Families together with Other Agencies/Organisations

On the CYPP website you will find the following information about how multi-agency integrated working is being developed in the county.  You will find that there are video links on the page which helps to explain the process; there is one aimed at families and one for practitioners.

Please have a look at the video to find out more.  Make sure you book your staff and/or volunteers onto the related training.

JAFF (Joint Assessment Family Framework)

Welsh Government’s Families First programme promotes that clear systems for multi-agency support, with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention are put in place. The Joint Assessment Family Framework (JAFF) which includes a ‘Team Around the Family’ model of working is named in the Families First guidance as the backbone of this integrated working.

In Powys the JAFF consists of three processes.

¨      The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) form is the access or referral form completed by a practitioner with a parent/carer and the child, or young person.

¨      The CAF goes to a multi-agency panel (The Local Resource Solution Panel) for discussion and solutions are agreed as part of a plan for the family.

¨      A ‘Team Around the Family’ (or ‘Team Around the Young Person’ if they do not have family) meeting is then arranged involving those directly working with the child/young person/family to review, monitor and add to this plan.

JAFF Film

Watch this film for children, young people and families to find out how JAFF can help you and your family and hear how it has supported others.

Watch this film for practitioners to find out more about JAFF and how it works in Powys.

Review of Family First Plan

A draft copy of the Reviewed Family First Plan has been made available.  Some of the data will be updated shortly.  However, you are welcome to view the report, that had to be submitted to Welsh Government, by using the link below:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B41FCphm3PwqYzA1NUJyZGlwd2s

You always have an opportunity to make a comment on the plan.  The CYPP support team is especially interested to hear about any "Story behind the Data".

For example:  Number of households with dependent children accepted as eligible, unintentionally homeless and in priority need shows an increasing need up from 55 in 2009 to 125 in 2012.  What are the challenges that the families you work with are experiencing?

Have a look through the document.  If you wish to discuss further please contact Yvonne Owen-Newns, at PAVO Llandrindod Wells offices.

Welsh Government's Pledge to Play

Update from Welsh Government website:

Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010, section 11, Play opportunities for children

We believe that children have a fundamental right to be able to play. We feel that play is central to their enjoyment of life and contributes to their well-being.

On 2 November 2012, we are commencing a duty on all Local Authorities to assess the sufficiency of play opportunities for children in their areas.

Through this legislation we intend to make Wales a country where every child has a wide range of challenging and interesting opportunities to play and enjoy their leisure time.

These regulations and guidance, set out the duty on Local Authorities and the matters that they need to take into account in their assessments.

This task will involve working with our partners to consider the many aspects of community life affecting play opportunities.
