Free Spring Holiday Play Montgomeryshire Play sessions

Play Montgomeryshire is continuing its play programme this Spring Half Term holiday with free of charge play sessions throughout the Shire.

It all starts on Saturday 28th May with the regular monthly craft sessions in Newtown Library from 10.30 to 12noon. Sam will be supporting the children to make Fathers day cards and Mieke has a total surprise up her sleeves.

This closely follows by 2, maybe 3, play sessions throughout the Shire on Tuesday, 31st May.
  • Oldford (IN WELSHPOOL) Play sessions start up at 2pm down by Skansis Pitch. Amanda and her team will open up the large storage container filled with loads of play  resources ready for an influx of children to come and have fun, this will continue every Monday and Thursday in the school holidays from 2 to  4pm and every Monday and Thursday after school from 4 to 6pm, even on Bank Holidays (Except this Bank Holiday because of the carnival).  Children under eight must bring an adult over 16 years, children over 8 years need to register.

  • Bryn y Gog (MACHYNLLETH) opens its play box doors at 11am to offer a wide range of play activities to local children. This project will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 3  in the holidays and from 4 to 6pm after school. This Tuesday may not go ahead due to staffing shortages, just watch the space on the green. Children under five must bring an adult over 16 years, children 5 years and over must be registered by their parents for the first visit and signed in for consequent visits.

These two projects run until the end of October. and offer activities such as den building, crafts, cooking, games, fire making and general free play.

  • Also on the Tuesday, and every Tuesday during term time (except the first week of the summer holidays and the last week of Christmas), the regular Stay and Play session in NEWTOWN Library will run from 1.30 to 3.30pm. Newtown Library will be reading  stories to the children from 1.30pm, and Play Montgomeryshire will be running a Stay and Play session for children of all ages from 2 to 3.30pm.  The Stay and Play craft session will involve craft activities running along the theme of pond life, DIY facepainting, dressing up and toys to play with and join in with  their friends. As usual members (membership is free of charge) may buy craft materials to do their own crafts over the Holidays. All children are welcome (with parents/carers) to join us at these Play Sessions in Newtown Library - there will be something for all ages.

The Wednesday (1st June) brings  the regular Stay and Play sessions in MACHYNLLETH Community Church from 10 to 12 noon, and every week thereafter, term time and holidays. These sessions offer play and activities targeted at younger children, but Junior children may join in and have fun also. Parents/carers need to stay, but refreshments can be purchased at very reasonable cost.

Play Montgomeryshire is a registered charity, and it is thanks to  generous funders they are able to carry out these activities free of charge
