Welsh Governments: Children & Families Delivery Grant

The Welsh Government has announced national organisations who have been awarded funding under the Children & Families Delivery Grant.

This will mean some changes, for example:
Funky Dragon - the Children & Young People's Assembly for Wales  and Play Wales have been both announced that their applications have been unsuccessful.
Meanwhile the successful projects are:


Strategic Priority: Childcare.
 Sponsor: Mudiadd Meithrin
 Project title: CWLWM – Childcare Wales Learning and
 Working Mutually
 Delivery Partners: Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs (CPCKC);
 National Day Nurseries Association;
 Professional Association for Childcare and
 Early Years; Wales Pre-School Providers
 Association (Wales PPA)

The CWLWM project as been awarded £4,324,396 over a 3 year period
to provide innovative solutions to creating flexible childcare and play
opportunities to meet the needs of parents and families. The grant will fund
a range of services and activities including childcare places, parenting
training and research into childcare and play issues.

Strategic Priority: Play.
 Sponsor: Groundwork Wales
 Project title: The Sustainable Play Project
 Delivery Partners: SNAP Cymru

The Sustainable Play Project has been awarded £1,410,028 to increase
and enhance the accessibility and quality of children’s outdoor play
experiences across areas suffering from high levels of deprivation. Over
11,500 children are expected to be involved in project play activities as
part of the projects work programme.



Strategic Priority: Supporting Families.
 Sponsor: ProMo Cymru
 Project title: Informed Families
 Delivery Partners: Action for Children, Diverse Cymru

The Informed Families project has been awarded £1,532,391 over a three
year period to develop a bilingual, online information service for families.
The proposed service will provide access through a range of digital routes
including social media and allow access via both mobile devices and more
conventional home based ICT equipment.



Strategic Priority: Engaged.
 Sponsor: Tros Gynnal Plant
 Project title: All Wales Restorative Approaches Family
Engagement Project  Delivery Partners: NA

The All Wales Restorative Approaches Family Engagement Project has
been awarded to £882,000 over a three year period to advise and deliver
training on the Restorative Approaches methodology. Over 550 parents
and practitioners will be involved in training during the life of the project.


Strategic Priority: Policy and Strategic Development..
 Sponsor: Children in Wales
 Project title: Tackling Poverty and promoting Children’s
 Rights– Children & Families policy, practice
 and strategic Development programme
 Delivery Partners: Tros Gynnal Plant, Voices from Care Cymru


The Tackling Poverty and promoting Children’s Rights project has been
awarded £1,874,527 over a three year to create a centre of excellence on
children’s rights, raising awareness, establishing and promoting best
practice and provide evidence based advice to issues related to children’s
rights.


The grant will support families in practical, measurable ways and responds to five specific Priority areas:

  • Childcare: Increasingly, families across Wales can access affordable, quality childcare 
  • Play: There are increased opportunities for children in Wales to play
  • Informed: Families are appropriately informed about financial and practical support available to them
  • Engaged: 'Seldom heard' families are engaged and access the programmes, support and services available to them
  • Policy and strategic development: Support for policy and strategic development in relation to children, young people and families. Systemic opportunities for children and young people to participate in decisions that affect them and have their voices heard are increased.
