A chance to get involved in a study looking at youth work provision in Wales.

The Welsh Government has commissioned a review of the National Youth Work Strategy for Wales 2014-2018, to evaluate the strategy’s impact on youth work provision.

The review will identify strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities, and consider gaps in the current strategy. Findings from this research will be presented to the Welsh Government with the hope of informing future Youth Work strategy.

The research is being conducted by staff from Wrexham Glyndwr University (Jess Achilleos, Hayley Douglas, Mandy Robbins), Cardiff Metropolitan University (Steve Drowley and Cez James), and an independent consultant (Susanne Rauprich).

People who deliver youth work services in Wales are invited to take part in this study.  Participants can be at a practice level or strategic level, and those who work in the statutory and voluntary youth work sector are also encouraged to get involved.

Taking part involves the completion of an
online questionnaire, with a deadline of 22 May, which will take about 15 minutes to complete. At the end of the questionnaire you will be asked if you would like to participate in a focus group. The focus group will involve a semi-structured interview and interactive discussion that will give you the opportunity to provide more in-depth views and opinions.

The focus groups will take place on the following dates:
·         18 May, 1pm to 3.30pm at Denbigh Town Hall, Crown Lane, Denbigh LL16 3TB
·         24 May, 12pm to 2.30pm at Baltic House, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff CF10 5FH

Both will begin with light lunch and then two hour session.
