Free Five day ecology course - open to all

FREE five-day ecology course

The Elan Links project is currently running in the Elan Valley, near Rhayader, Powys and creates opportunities for people to access bespoke well-being woodland activities, woodland skills training courses, week-long intensive training in sector specific activities, mentoring, work placements and support for fledgling woodland enterprises. The project is designed to enable deep rooted change in each person’s life, reaping the benefits of the therapeutic and energising woodland environment.

We are currently inviting referrals for the following course. Participants are able to self-refer. Referrals can be made by completing the attached form and returning to elanlinks@tircoed.org.uk or by phoning 01597 811527 or 01970 636909

Tir Coed are now recruiting for a free five-day intensive ecology course in the Elan Valley, Powys as part of the Elan Links: People, Nature & Water project. This will run from Monday 14th – Friday 18th May 2018 and will be led by local ecologist and natural historian Phil Ward.

The course will run from 10am until 4pm each day and will cover:

• Carrying out a variety of wildlife surveys for plants and animals
• Using different types of survey equipment
• Identifying and recording species
• Surveying an area of land and compiling a report

Throughout the course, participants will be offered support to overcome the barriers that hamper their ability to access opportunities, be they personal, social or practical. They will also be offered bespoke support to progress beyond the course. This will develop the skills and aspirations of the individual, and may include further training, volunteering or employment.

Places on the course will be given to participants who have any of a wide range of additional needs. If you know someone who would benefit from the course or would like more information about the project please get in touch.
